Death on the Nile

If you are looking for a movie to watch and if you are keen on Ancient Egypt at the same time, you should take the time (two hours) to watch Death on the Nile. You may be in a cold sweat too, because we are talking about a film adaptation from a novel by British writer Agatha Christie…

Death on the Nile is a mystery film directed by Kenneth Branagh that was released last year. It tells one of the stories of detective Hercule Poirot, the famous character Agatha Christie created and used for her short stories, plays and novels.

The Nile’s case is taking place in Egypt on a cruise ship that sails on the Nile. The setting is idyllic, and how could it be different when you take a boat to stroll in Egypt in the midst of pyramids and other vestiges you can still visit today? The Northern African country, that used to be one of the greatest powers in the Antiquity before it was annexed by the Romans, is going to be the witness of a sordid crime though, and the plot revolves around Hercule Poirot’s investigation. The Belgian detective will use his skills, talent and intuition to try to unmask the murderer.

Who killed the young, gorgeous and wealthy Linnet Ridgeway while she was just getting married? A money issue again, but who was mischievous enough to turn his or her jealousy into practice and assassinate the barely married woman while she was sleeping? This is what the spectator will attempt to find out with Hercule Poirot, who can mostly rely on himself during the case.

Plot twists do not lack in this movie where your doubts and suspicions will quickly move from one fellow to another one. And if you prefer reading, just buy the book in your closest bookshop!
