Summer holidays are still pending, what should you remember before flying abroad?

Before taking your plane to spend your summertime abroad, in Senegal, Namibia (to stroll in the desert) or Kenya (or anywhere else), these are a few tips you should not forget to make sure you will have a nice time. Before going to the airport, make sure you checked out everything!

What is the size and weight of your luggage? You should check out the restrictions of the aircraft company you are flying with to avoid additional fees when arriving at the airport. Make sure to weigh your suitcases properly, and do not forget the liquid restrictions if you only travel with a cabin luggage.

Talking about the airport, what time should you arrive at the check-in desk? Boarding gates usually close thirty minutes before departure, and check-in desks are no longer available one hour before the flight. To ensure peaceful times before travelling, you should arrive at the airport at least two hours before the departure of your flight if it is a regional trip (on the same continent). If it is an international flight, consider arriving at the airport three hours before the time of your flight.

When should you prepare your stuff for the trip? Last minute or two weeks in advance? It is up to you, but consider the fact that preparing your suitcase in the last minute may make you forget a few things: if you are in a hurry when gathering your clothes and belongings, you will perhaps miss some items you will only remember when sitting on the plane!

Besides, if you are flying to a foreign country, do not forget to bring an adapter for your phone if necessary. Make sure to have a visa if needed, and be up to date with your vaccines: in certain places, some vaccinations are compulsory to enter the country. In most countries of sub-Saharan Africa for instance, you will have to get the vaccine against the yellow fever.
