How comfortable are you with the notion of risk? Professionally or privately speaking, are you keen on taking risks and explore a new path that can possibly lead to nothing, or will you rather stay in the line and put forward comfort and certainties above all?
Perhaps you played a board game called “Risk” when you were a child: this strategy game can be played with several mates and the goal is to rule the entire world (and destroy the armies of the contenders at the same time). In order to win some territories, you have to set up a relevant strategy and take some risks to maybe lose a little bit now so as to dream bigger later. Are you going to be the ruler of Europe, America, Africa, Oceania and Asia, or will you leave your competitors do it instead?
Playing the “Risk” game probably gave you an idea of the degree of risk that you were ready to accept in your real life, even though you surely did not have the same perception as today as a grown-up. Dealing with risk in the life you live is a real stake that has nothing to do with playing a board game, and you should get prepared to potential disillusions and disappointments as long as you accept to do something risky.
“It might work on, but it might be a failure too”: considering both possibilities, the best and the worse, can be a good way to anticipate in any case. Some people say you only have to think about success, which can be a good way to tackle risk to a certain extent, but if you fail, your deception may be more complicated to evacuate than if you considered failure as a real possibility (which does not mean that you especially focus on it). When you take risks, the word “failure” must be something you can cope with: something that can happen, that you can overcome and that is no big deal because at least you tried.
At last, think about the level of risk that you are ready to take: as if you were doing some trading operations, you have to master your risk in order not to lose everything. Do not take risks for nothing, but go for it if it is worth it: do you like your job? Do you like the place you live in? Do you have childhood dreams you would like to achieve? Would you like to go on a world trip with a backpack and a few savings? It is up to you!
