Paco and African Music : meet Paco and Bakary in Africa

Christmas 2024 is now over but presents can be offered at any time. If you have a three-year-old child who is eager to be told stories before going to bed, what about telling him/her the adventures of Paco in Africa?

The stories of Paco have been written by Magali Le Huche for young children. They tell the adventures of Paco, a young dog who is literally in love with music. His steps lead him to explore the secrets and mysteries of classical music, jazz, hip hop and African music. In the book “Paco and African music”, the protagonist boards on a plane to go to Africa with his dude Bakary. Throughout the trip, both friends will get to know African music better, and the associated musical instruments.

Going from villages to deserts and marketplaces, Paco and Bakary begin a tremendous trip and meet the locals who are willing to teach them the properties of every single musical instrument: the kora, the balafon, the oud, the djembe, Paco and Bakary can satisfy their curiosity and enjoy the different melodies of the continent.

The book is a talking one: every time Paco gets to know a specific musical instrument, you and your child have the possibility to press a button in order to listen to the sound of the designated instrument. At the end of the book, you even get a sum up of all African musical instruments that have been seen throughout the whole story. A legend has been added to explain the particularities of each instrument, and your child can press the button again to become accustomed to the sound of the instrument.

Paco is a big traveler, and you can also meet him in New York (hip hop) and New Orleans (jazz) if you and your child wish to discover more about music! Books are available online, on Fnac.com or Amazon for about 13 euros/dollars.
