Meet Senegalese producer Rehanna Ngom and take a look at her latest short film “The  Prophecy”

Do you know Rehanna Ngom? The young and multi-task Senegalese producer is also a writer and a director who recently released a short movie called “The Prophecy”. Let us introduce the character before going more deeply into her work.

Rehanna Ngom was born and raised in Dakar, the capital city of Senegal. After obtaining her A level, the young woman decided to achieve her studies far away from home, and she moved to America and Europe in order to consolidate her skills in International Relations and Film Studies. She also strengthened her qualifications thanks to work experiences with Studio Canal UK and Aramis, without forgetting what she did for the NGO Save The Children.

In 2022, Rehanna set up her own production company Studio Réveil. Still in 2022, she produced and directed a short film called “Take it or bleed it”. One year later, the filmmaker was writing her upcoming short movie: “The Prophecy”.

“The Prophecy” is a short movie which was shot in New York and Senegal. The film lasts 21 minutes and tells the story of a sleepless woman who attempts to find an efficient treatment for her never-ending nightmares. The heroin, Tabara, thus decides to take a journey in Africa to find a solution to her problems.

Tabara, a Senegalese immigrant in America, will travel to Senegal to consult a marabout. The journey will lead the young woman to confront her own life story and face up to her traumas in a quest towards self-acceptance and vengeance.

Specialized in horror inspired by African folklore, Rehanna Ngom wishes to produce movies that deal with mental health issues like depression and anxiety


The short movie “The Prophecy” has been broadcasted in several festivals worldwide. A long version is under consideration as well.
